She said it would be helpful for the community to <br /> know that these plans are in place as they are engaged in the strategic planning process. <br /> Jonathan Grace said existing plans will be reviewed to see where they can find alignment. <br /> Commissioner Richards asked stakeholder engagement is about what they want, vs. what <br /> the county has. She said it would be helpful to know if the community's needs are in alignment <br /> with existing plans. <br /> Commissioner Greene said the transit plan was developed over two years with community <br /> engagement. She said it was a robust process. <br /> Commissioner Hamilton said it is important to help the community understand what the <br /> limitations are in the county. <br /> Charlene Kirongozi said that the community engagement tool can include existing policy <br /> documents. <br /> Commissioner Fowler said it is helpful to give the community a definition on what county <br /> government is and can do. <br /> Chair Bedford said it is important for existing plans and policy documents should living <br /> documents and adjust as new information and priorities come up. <br /> Commissioner Greene said education for the community is important, including existing <br /> plans and policies. <br /> Chair Bedford asked what a typical stakeholder engagement process looks like. <br /> Charlene Kirongozi said it usually starts with interviews and focus groups. She said all of <br /> the data will be incorporated into an environmental scan which will be presented to the Board. <br /> Commissioner Portie-Ascott asked for more information about when the visioning process <br /> would be conducted with the stakeholder group. She wanted to make sure that people who are <br /> not normally involved in discussions are part of the process. <br /> Charlene Kirongozi said random sample of people will be used to try to ensure that many <br /> voices are heard. <br />
