What threats does .� <br /> County govemme€rt face to etfoottvety . <br /> serving the community now and in the <br /> future? <br /> The Board wrote their responses to the above questions: <br /> STRENGTHS: <br /> Commissioner Portie-Ascott noted that Orange County is a diverse community. She said <br /> the community has a great reputation for being involved. <br /> Commissioner Greene said the county has strong management. She said the community <br /> is progressive and pushes the government to do good things and to help, such as social justice, <br /> broadband, and a climate action plan. <br /> Vice-Chair McKee said the community is engaged and informed. He said the county has <br /> the resources to provide services and a good reputation. <br /> Chair Bedford said the community values education and helping the planet. She said that <br /> the community has good healthcare resources and arts programming. She said county <br /> government has capable staff, transparent operations, service-focused departments, and <br /> department directors work together. <br /> Commissioner Richards said the county has professional management. She said the <br /> community is committed and has a strong business sector. <br /> Commissioner Fowler said the community is highly-educated and a large majority of <br /> residents are self-sufficient. She said there are lots of resources for advisory boards. She said <br /> the community is a mix of suburban and rural. She said the community is diverse and engaged. <br /> She said the county has a well-organized budget and departments have SMART goals. <br /> Commissioner Hamilton said many residents have monetary and time resources to be <br /> engaged. She said county government has dedicated staff and comprehensive services. <br /> WEAKNESSES: <br /> Commissioner Portie-Ascott said a weakness is a lack of affordable housing. She said <br /> the county has disparities in the education system. <br /> Commissioner Greene said there is a lack of money to do all of the things we want to do. <br /> She said she thinks that the county does not communicate well with residents. <br />
