Construct parking space number based on current
phase for students (174) and buildout for teacher/visitor (80) (Total 254 -
Phase 1; 86 additional at 1200 capacity buildout).
b. Consider an overflow parking aisle area ofsemi-pervious material.
III. COMMUNITY AWARENESS
A. Host a community forum to discuss the school planning process and the possible
changes to the neighborhood pedestrian, bigyc%ng and traffic systems.
B. Produce brochures through Parent/Teacher Organizations and other school/parent
groups to improve awareness of air quality and environment.
IV. MIXED USE'
The compatibility and functional relationship of a school in an area can be an indication of the
smart growth `fit' of a project. Compatibility represents a condition in which land uses can co-
exist in relative proximity to each other in a stable fashion over time such that no use or
condition is unduly negatively impacted directly or indirectly. Mixing land uses such as a minor
office/retail (including restaurants) element in the area to capture potential off--site school and
neighborhood traffic would create beneficial synergy.
Complementary to compatibility issues are functional relationships that represent a
complementary and interactive relationship among land uses or development that include
substantial and positive exchange of human interaction, goods, resources, institutions,
services and jobs between land uses.
A. Develop a report and examine the ability to lease land and/or space to private sector
providers of needed student and neighborhood services.
CIWINDOWSITemporary Interne( FileslConlenf IE5195670LAFlShIART GRO WTH ACTIVITIES-3 doc
