34
1 1) approve two new grant-funded, time-limited positions of Mental Health Diversion
2 Coordinator in the Criminal Justice Resource Department for this fiscal year and a
3 Social Worker position in the Sheriff's Office for FY 2023-24; and
4 2) approve Budget Amendment#6-B.
5
6 VOTE: UNANIMOUS
7
8 c. BOCC Boards and Commissions Assignments
9 The Board selected the boards and commissions on which Board members would like to serve
10 during the remainder of 2023.
11
12 BACKGROUND: BOCC members serve on various County and County-related boards and
13 commissions. On an annual basis, BOCC members indicate their desire to continue serving on
14 specific boards or commissions or their desire to make changes.
15
16 Tara May, Deputy Clerk to the Board, introduced the item. She reviewed the background
17 materials from the agenda. She read an email from Steve Brantley sent to the Board earlier in
18 the day regarding the Research Triangle Regional Partnership - Executive Board. She said the
19 Small Business Loan program had been dissolved and removed from the list of boards and
20 commissions.
21 Commissioner Fowler asked for clarification on the ABC Board term.
22 Tara May said the appointment was for a two year term.
23 Commissioner Hamilton clarified that there are two commissioner positions on the Capital
24 Needs Task Force, one of which is vacant.
25 Chair Bedford discussed the Burlington Graham MPO meeting structure. She said that
26 TARPO and Burlington Graham MPO are really good ways to learn about transit.
27 Commissioner Fowler said that TARPO has a virtual meeting option.
28 Chair Bedford said that GoTriangle and Durham Tech positions would normally be saved,
29 but because they were previously held by former Commissioner Renee Price, their temporary
30 assignments cannot be saved.
31
32 The Board made the following selections for boards and commissions:
Board Name 2023 BOCC Member
ABC Board Commissioner Fowler
Alliance Health Board of Directors Commissioner Hamilton
Board of Health Commissioner Bedford
Board of Social Services Commissioner Bedford
Burlington/Graham MPO Transportation Advisory Commissioner Richards-Member
Committee Commissioner Fowler-Alternate
Cooperative Extension Leadership Council Commissioner Fowler
Durham- Chapel Hill — Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Commissioner Bedford-Member
Organization Board Commissioner Greene-Alternate
Durham Tech Board of Trustees Commissioner McKee
Family Success Alliance Advisory Council Commissioner Richards
Fire Chiefs Association of Orange County Commissioner Bedford
Go Triangle Board of Trustees Commissioner Greene
