3 <br /> RES-2023-028 Attachment 1 <br /> A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE APPROVAL OF IN-COUNTY TRAVEL <br /> ALLOWANCE FOR ORANGE COUNTY SCHOOLS BOARD OF EDUCATION <br /> MEMBERS <br /> WHEREAS, members of the Orange County Schools Board of Education travel <br /> throughout the county to fulfill their duties as Board members; and <br /> WHEREAS, North Carolina General Statute §115C-38 provides that a local tax levying <br /> board may "fix the compensation and expense allowances paid members of the board <br /> of education of that local school administrative unit;" and <br /> WHEREAS, the Orange County Schools Board of Education has requested it be <br /> allowed to provide its members a monthly stipend for In-County Travel at $100 per <br /> month; <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Orange County Schools Board of <br /> Education is authorized to provide its members a stipend for In-County Travel as <br /> requested. <br /> Adopted by the Orange County Board of Commissioners this 4th day of April, 2023. <br /> By: Attest: <br /> Jamezetta Bedford, Chair Laura Jensen, Clerk to the Board <br /> Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> [SEAL] <br />
