I have a growing interest in Orange County history. <br /> Currently, I am Associate Professor of the Practice in the Social Science Research Institute and <br /> Director of Graduate Liberal Studies MA program at Duke University. With my husband David, I <br /> also run a small history consulting firm, Primary Source History Services. I earned my Ph.D. in <br /> history from UNC in 1997. <br /> My work as a historian and teacher has been concentrated in public history, where I have deep <br /> expertise in the history and development of the U.S. National Parks. I am author of Super-Scenic <br /> Motorway: A Blue Ridge Parkway History(UNC Press, 2006), and co-author of five other <br /> historical studies for the National Park Service. I was the project lead for the influential 2011 <br /> study, Imperiled Promise: The State of History in the National Park Service, cosponsored by <br />
