119 <br /> Kimley)>>Horn White Cross Retail—Orange County, NC <br /> 5.0 Projected Traffic Volumes <br /> 5.1 Existing Traffic <br /> Weekday AM (7:00 — 9:00 AM) and PM (4:00 — 6:00 PM) peak hour turning movement counts <br /> were collected at the following intersection: <br /> • NC 54—White Cross Road November 2, 2022 <br /> The turning movement count data is included in the Appendix. <br /> Figure 5.1 shows the existing peak hour traffic volumes at the study intersection for the AM and <br /> PM peak hours. <br /> 5.2 Ambient Growth Traffic <br /> Ambient growth traffic is the increase in traffic due to non-specific growth throughout the area. <br /> Based on an analysis of historic growth rates, a 1.25% annual growth rate was applied to all <br /> existing volumes up to the 2024 future study year. <br /> Ambient growth calculations are detailed on intersection spreadsheets in the Appendix. <br /> 5.3 Background Traffic <br /> Background traffic volumes include existing and historic growth traffic. Figure 5.1 shows the <br /> projected (2024) background peak hour traffic volumes at the study intersection for the AM and <br /> PM peak hours. <br /> 5.4 Site Traffic <br /> The proposed site traffic was generated and assigned to the roadway network according to the <br /> distribution discussed in Section 4.0. Figures 5.2 and 5.3 show the projected peak hour site traffic <br /> volumes at the study intersections for the AM and PM peak hours,respectively. <br /> 5.5 Build-Out Traffic <br /> To obtain the projected (2024) build-out traffic volumes, the projected site traffic was added to <br /> the projected (2024) background traffic volumes. Figures 5.2 and 5.3 show the projected (2024) <br /> build-out peak hour traffic volumes at the study intersections for the AM and PM peak hours, <br /> respectively. <br /> Volume development calculations are detailed on intersection spreadsheets in the Appendix. <br /> 8 <br />
