The 391acre park will be jointly <br /> awned and managed by Orange and Durham counties. <br /> Late last year, both the Orange and Durham county boards of commissioners approved a <br /> preliminary pads design plan that incorporates the following elements: entrance mad and <br /> parking area, picnic shelter, restroom facility, children's play area, group camping area, <br /> and trail system (with separate walking/hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian trails). <br /> Trial Issues related to park uses (camping and horseback riding facilities)are <br /> expected to be discussed and resolved when representatives from bath county <br /> boards meet later this Spring to finalize an interracial agreement for the park's <br /> operation and maintenance. For that meeting of board representatives,the county <br /> managers have directed staff to prepare background information related to the park <br /> operations and maintenance needs, park security and emergency response issues, <br /> caretaker residence, and county cost share considerations. The draft interlocal <br /> agreement is expected to go to both boards for approval by August. <br />
