Orange County <br /> Advisory Board on Aging <br /> Tuesday, January 10, 1-3 p.m. <br /> Passmore Center and Virtual <br /> MINUTES <br /> In attendance: Heather Altman, Colin Austin, Jeff Charles, Jerry Gregory, Saru Salvi, Vibeke Talley, Sandy <br /> Walker, Dick White, Ann Bradford, Aging Board candidate; Staff: Dawn Smith, Beverly Shuford and Janice Tyler <br /> Absent Excused: Rachel Bearman, James Harris <br /> Absent Unexcused: <br /> 1. Introductions and Announcements <br /> a. Heather welcomed everyone to the first meeting of 2023 <br /> b. Lucinda Poole has decided to resign from the board due to her work load. She will try to remain <br /> involved in the MAP Communications & Information workgroup <br /> 2. Approval of Minutes— November 8, 2022 <br /> a. Approved <br /> Director's Report <br /> 3. Staff Updates <br /> a. Janice encouraged everyone to continue to get vaccinated and boosted. Booster rates are <br /> lagging in NC and cases of Covid-19, the flu and other viruses are spreading. Please wear masks <br /> to help reduce the spread. <br /> b. Commissioners Bedford and Greene and Janice attended the Carol Woods Retirement <br /> Community residents' meeting and reception on 1/10/2023. The Commissioners spoke and <br /> thanked Carol Woods' residents for their $175k charitable gift to fund our MAP work. <br /> c. Seymour Center Facility Manager—Zachery Amos <br /> i. Zach started early December. He comes to us from Virginia and is a graduate of William <br /> & Mary <br /> d. Seymour Center Program Coordinator Assistant -Samantha Bell <br /> i. Samantha's first day was yesterday. She was hired to fill the position vacated by Meghan <br /> Rushing and comes with great experience. This position was formerly shared between <br /> both centers. However, due to the growing need at the Seymour Center a full-time <br /> assistant was needed. This position will now be 100% at the Seymour Center <br /> e. Seymour Center Evening Facility Manager assistant— Brittany Johnson <br /> i. Brittany Johnson was offered the position, but has since reconsidered. We will reach out <br /> to the next candidate, and if interested, we will begin reference checks <br /> f. Passmore Center Part-time Program Coordinator Assistant position posted <br /> i. Position closes tomorrow. This part-time position will be for two full days per week at <br /> Passmore <br /> g. Wellness Program Assistant position to be posted soon <br /> i. The part-time position has been approved and will be funded through UNC and ARPA <br /> funds. The position will help expand evidence-based fitness programs and current <br /> wellness programs <br /> h. MAP Intern - Leiha Edmonds <br />
