<br />County of ten dollars heretofore made is hereby validated. <br />Section 3. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby <br />repealed. <br />Section 4. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its <br />ratification. <br />Approval moved Delmar Brown, seconded by John E. Hawkins, and passed. <br />Voting Aye C. W. Brown <br />The Commissioners approved.tbe request submitted by the Orange County Board <br />of Education. <br />Letters of application for the position of Recorderts Court Judge were reed <br />by Chairman Stanford. A discussion ensued concerning this appointment. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Smith, seconded by Commissioner Cleveland, and <br />unanimously adopted, Marshall Smith of Chapel Hill was appointed as Judge of the <br />Recorder's Court to complete the unexpired term of the Honorable L. J. Phipps. <br />L. J. Phipps, Representative for Orange County, was present. Chairman Stanford <br />thanked Mr. Phipps for the services he had rendered to the county in the capacity <br />lof Judge of the Recorder's Court. <br />The Board then discussed with Representative Phipps the proposed legisation <br />which would be coming before the House and expressed to him their interest in <br />certain of these proposals. A copy of the act relating to per diem and mileage of <br />certain officers of Orange County which bad been presented by the Orange County Board <br />of Education was given to Representative Phipps. <br />Dr. Garvin, District Health Officer, requested that orange County be included <br />with the provision of Article 6 of Chapter 87 of the General Statutes Relating to <br />Water Well Contractors. Dr. Garvin pointed out the need for such sction within the <br />county. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Smith, seconded by Commissioner Cleveland, and <br />unanimously adopted, Representative Phipps was requested to bring Orange County under <br />the provision of Article 6 of Chapter 87 of the General Statutes of North Carolina. <br />1The Board left at 2:30 o'clock p.m. to participate in the dedication of the <br />Prange County Agricultural Building. <br />There being no further business the meeting was adjourned. <br />Donald Stanford <br />Chairman <br />Betty June Hayes <br />Clerk
