While <br />The ArtsCenter does not track the ethnicities of their students <br />in ArtsCamp and Afterschool at The ArtsCenter Programs, the <br />scholarship programs inform the organization that <br />approximately 20% of the youth in their programs come from <br />households that are at or below federal poverty level. The <br />ArtsCenter offers full scholarships to a broad range of students: <br />approximately 22.2% are African American, 42.2% LatinX, 8.9 % <br />Asian, 4.5% mixed ethnicity; and 22.2% Caucasian. <br /> <br />In non-pandemic times, The ArtsCenter’s Artist in Residence <br />program provides culturally competent arts experiences to over <br />2,800 students in classrooms across Orange County at no cost <br />to families. Through The ArtsCenter’s partnership with the <br />Orange County School district, they provide a 5-day in- <br />classroom residency to students at all four Title 1 Elementary <br />Schools (New Hope, Central, Efland-Cheeks and Grady Brown <br />Elementary Schools). For the 2021-2022, for the first time, all <br />self-contained classrooms in the Orange County Schools were <br />able to experience artist in residencies designed with their <br />specifics needs in mind. The artists successfully adapted their <br />residencies in order that students with such disabilities as down <br />and fragile X syndrome, autism, cognitive and physical delays <br />and hearing and visual impairments, to name a few, could be <br />included in these impactful arts experiences. For the Artist in <br />Residence program for 2021-2022, the students served were <br />40% white, 35% Hispanic, 17% black, 6% multi-racial, 2% Asian. <br />Over half of the students served are on free or reduced lunch. <br /> <br />The ArtsCenter’s year-round ArtSchool is the largest resource in <br />Orange County for learners of all ages to explore their creative <br />capacity, offering instruction in various art forms from ceramics <br />to digital arts. From teenagers to the elderly, all residents can <br />take a class regardless of financial capacity or ability.
