Resumes | 35 <br />Khara Dodds, AICP <br />Senior Consultant <br />Khara is a senior consultant in BerryDunn’s Local <br />Government Practice Group and has more than <br />13 years of leadership experience and 20 years of <br />experience in planning and community <br />engagement. She empowers communities, impacts lives, and makes a <br />difference in her work and she leverages her experience in city and <br />regional planning to assist clients as they move forward in their <br />endeavors. <br />Relevant Experience <br />Planning and Development: Khara has led various departments in <br />development, planning and land use services, and economic <br />development. She led the town of Prosper, Texas through multiple <br />town strategic planning initiatives that improved town operations and <br />procedures as well as enhanced the quality of life for residents and <br />businesses. She prepared design guidelines, regulation amendments, <br />and a multi-faceted community engagement program to get input from <br />residents, the development community, property owners, and <br />board/commission members. Khara also completed major city <br />initiatives including a Capital City Parks Master Plan and Downtown <br />North Master Plan for the City of Hartford, CT. She leverages her <br />experience managing stakeholders through the planning process to <br />organizing capital improvement to implementing grant funds to assist <br />communities pursuing state and federal grants. <br />Leadership: Khara has assisted clients in the development and <br />adoption of new ordinances and codes, participated in the annual <br />budget process and educational improvement initiatives, and served <br />as a liaison to various stakeholders. She successfully led the Town of <br />Glastonbury’s Sustainable CT certification, earning the Town a Silver <br />Certification (the highest level and designation). She has coordinated <br />the review process of securing land use approvals; worked with <br />underserved neighborhoods on improvement and revitalization; and <br />added major development projects with securing land permits and <br />economic development incentives. <br />Process Improvement: Khara has managed the plan review process <br />of large-scale development projects and ensured coordination with <br />staff and board/commission members throughout the process.
