23
The PRC also was the lead advisory board in the creation of the Parks and
Recreation Master Plan 2030. (Goal 5)
The PRC reviews site plans for major subdivision applications in the county's
jurisdiction. As needed, recommendations are made on potential land dedication
for parks and open space. (Goal 5)
The Council reviews plans and advises on new park construction and openings
(such as Blackwood Farm Park, Hollow Rock Nature Park), and participates in
park master planning efforts. (Goal 6)
Describe the collaboration relationship(s) this particular board has with other advisory
boards and commissions?
During the Covid-19 pandemic and its aftermath, collaboration activities were
necessarily curtailed. The Council is reviewing past findings and recommendations, assessing
progress toward these goals, and identifying changed conditions and emerging
trends. The end product will be a report in June 2023 that assesses all of the
above topics and suggests changes or modifications needed as the County is
midway through the plan period.
In other activities, the Council has been briefed on the Perry Hills MiniPark and
plans to participate in the planning efforts for this park, and also will be engaged
in creating the scope of work for a Bicycle, Pedestrian and Trails Plan to be
started in Fall 2023. The year 2023 has been designated as the Year of the Trail in
North Carolina, and the PRC plans to help promote activities toward trail
