23 <br /> The PRC also was the lead advisory board in the creation of the Parks and <br /> Recreation Master Plan 2030. (Goal 5) <br /> The PRC reviews site plans for major subdivision applications in the county's <br /> jurisdiction. As needed, recommendations are made on potential land dedication <br /> for parks and open space. (Goal 5) <br /> The Council reviews plans and advises on new park construction and openings <br /> (such as Blackwood Farm Park, Hollow Rock Nature Park), and participates in <br /> park master planning efforts. (Goal 6) <br /> Describe the collaboration relationship(s) this particular board has with other advisory <br /> boards and commissions? <br /> During the Covid-19 pandemic and its aftermath, collaboration activities were <br /> necessarily curtailed. However, the Council regularly collaborates with the <br /> Commission for the Environment and the Intergovernmental Parks Work Group, <br /> and also shared information with the Board of Health on the opportunities for <br /> linking healthy lifestyles and parks. The PRC regularly meets with its sister <br /> advisory boards in the three towns, with the next session coming in March 2023. <br /> The Council also advised and reviewed information from the Historic <br /> Preservation Commission, Orange County Sportsplex, the Town of Hillsborough, <br /> Fairview Community Watch, the Occoneechee Tribal Council and the Alliance for <br /> Historic Hillsborough (River Park). <br /> Identify any activities this board/commission expects to carry out in 2023 as they relate <br /> to established BOCC goals and priorities. If applicable, is there a fiscal impact (i.e., <br /> funding, staff time, other resources) associated with these proposed activities (please <br /> list). <br /> Beginning mid-2022 and continuing until June 2023, the PRC's primary work topic <br /> is the "Mid-Plan Review" of the 2030 Parks and Recreation Master Plan (adopted <br /> in 2014). The Council is reviewing past findings and recommendations, assessing <br /> progress toward these goals, and identifying changed conditions and emerging <br /> trends. The end product will be a report in June 2023 that assesses all of the <br /> above topics and suggests changes or modifications needed as the County is <br /> midway through the plan period. <br /> In other activities, the Council has been briefed on the Perry Hills MiniPark and <br /> plans to participate in the planning efforts for this park, and also will be engaged <br /> in creating the scope of work for a Bicycle, Pedestrian and Trails Plan to be <br /> started in Fall 2023. The year 2023 has been designated as the Year of the Trail in <br /> North Carolina, and the PRC plans to help promote activities toward trail <br />
