Schools Safety Task Force —Appointments Discussion <br /> The Board discussed and considered approving initial appointments to the non-designated <br /> positions on the Schools Safety Task Force. <br /> BACKGROUND: The charge and composition of the Schools Safety Task Force were <br /> established at the Board's November 15, 2022 Business Meeting. She said there were 2 applicants from Chapel Hill-Carrboro <br /> and 5 from Orange County. <br /> Commissioner Price said that that the applicants are qualified, but she was dismayed by <br /> the lack of diversity of the applicants and asked if they would consider reopening the application <br /> period to see if more people apply. <br /> Vice Chair McKee agreed with Commissioner Price's comments. <br /> Commissioner Hamilton said she was concerned that reopening would push back the <br /> work. <br /> Commissioner Richards said that there was diversity in age and in sexual orientation. She <br /> said she was concerned that reopening would delay the process. She said she supports looking <br /> for ethnic diversity. <br /> Commissioner Hamilton said that the schools would also bring people and they may <br /> provide diversity. <br /> Commissioner Price said she is aware that there are other ways of getting diversity, but <br /> considering that Orange County has been trying to do its part in diversity, she wanted to make <br />
