"Preliminary Staff Evaluation: Lnplications of the Shaping Orange County's Future <br /> Provisional Report"dated August 28.2000 (please see Attachment 2). <br /> On June 26, 2004 the Town Council re eked comments from advisory boards on the <br /> Previsional Report(please see Attachment 3t <br /> Following public hearings by the Chapel Hill Town Council, the GaKaom Board of Aldermen, <br /> and the Orange County Board of Commissioners, the Shaping Cosmic County's Future Task <br /> Force will consider all comments and rc a the Provisional Report. An Assembly of <br /> Governments meeting is scheduled for.lanuan's19. 2()()1 to allots elected officials from the three <br /> Suriname bodies to receive and discuss this revised typed. <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> The following comments were offered at the September ISth public hearing: <br /> 1. Compact, taxed use unities. A citizen spoke in favor of transit-oriented development <br /> featuring compact, mixed use communities, The citizen felt these should be located along rail <br /> lines that could become future transit corridors. and-ehae rural yiJluges should be located in <br /> Orange County. <br /> Comment: The Town's Comprehensive Plan supports mixed use communities in the Town's <br /> urban services area, as does the Shapira Charge C'uanly s finurc Pmvisiunul Ripen.
