3 <br /> 1 WHEREAS, Commissioner Price has served the residents of Orange County regardless of <br /> 2 geographic location faithfully and with honor, integrity and distinction for the past <br /> 3 ten years; and <br /> 4 <br /> 5 WHEREAS, during her service as an Orange County Commissioner, Commissioner Price <br /> 6 supported the needs of underserved and neglected neighborhoods; building <br /> 7 affordable housing; improving school facilities; preserving farms and agriculture; <br /> 8 the progress of small businesses, artists, craft makers, and entrepreneurs; and <br /> 9 took special interest in social and racial justice and expanding broadband; and <br /> 10 <br /> 11 WHEREAS, Commissioner Price has shared her talent for leadership and public service <br /> 12 through her work on numerous boards and commissions, including the Durham <br /> 13 Technical Community College Board of Trustees, Library Services Task Force, <br /> 14 TARPO (Triangle Area Rural Planning Organization), NACo (National Association <br /> 15 of County Commissioners), NCACC (North Carolina Association of County <br /> 16 Commissioners), Historic Rogers Road Task Force, Community Home Trust Board <br /> 17 of Directors, Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization <br /> 18 Transportation Advisory Committee, Legislative Issues Work Group, Juvenile <br /> 19 Crime Prevention Council, Triangle J Council of Governments, Upper Neuse River <br /> 20 Basin Association, Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, GoTriangle Special Tax <br /> 21 Board, GoTriangle Board of Trustees, Joint Public Safety Training Facility Work <br /> 22 Group, Cardinal Innovations County Commissioner Advisory Board, Healthy <br /> 23 Carolinians, Justice Advisory Council, North South Bus Rapid Transit Policy <br /> 24 Committee, and the Strategic Communications Work Group, among others; and <br /> 25 <br /> 26 WHEREAS, Commissioner Price was recognized as the WCHL and Chapelboro Hometown <br /> 27 Hero in May 2018 and September 2020, and was awarded the WCHL and <br /> 28 Chapelboro Village Pride Award in January 2015, the 2021 Special Service Award <br /> 29 from the North Carolina Association of Black County Commissioners, the 2020 <br /> 30 M.H. "Jack" Brock Outstanding County Commissioner Award from the North <br /> 31 Carolina Association of County Commissioners, and the Outstanding Service <br /> 32 Award from the National Organization of Black County Officials; <br /> 33 <br /> 34 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> 35 officially commends Ren6e Price for her hard work, dedication, and exemplary <br /> 36 service to the people of Orange County, and wishes her the very best in her service <br /> 37 in the North Carolina House of Representatives, and all of her future endeavors. <br /> 38 <br /> 39 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be presented to Ren6e Price and that the <br /> 40 Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting. <br /> 41 <br /> 42 <br /> 43 This the 13th day of December, 2022. <br /> 44 <br /> 45 A motion was made by Vice Chair McKee, seconded by Commissioner Hamilton, to <br /> 46 approve the resolution commending Commissioner Ren6e Price for her service to the residents <br /> 47 of Orange County. <br /> 48 <br /> 49 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 50 <br />
