Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Plan Organization Annual Report <br /> 9 The Board received a presentation on Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning <br /> 10 Organization Annual Report. <br /> 11 <br /> 12 BACKGROUND: The Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) <br /> 13 is the regional transportation planning agency in North Carolina's western Triangle. In cooperation <br /> 14 with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), the MPO is responsible for the <br /> 15 planning and programming of all modes of transportation including highways, public transit, <br /> 16 freight, bicycles, and pedestrians. The MPO's work is regionally based, but community focused. <br /> 17 The MPO formulates and implements plans that will improve life locally and ensure that plans <br /> 18 reflect the expressed needs of its member communities.
