6 <br /> RES-2023-010 Attachment 3 <br /> RESOLUTION OF AMENDMENT <br /> A RESOLUTION AMENDING CHAPTER 26 OF THE ORANGE COUNTY CODE <br /> OF ORDINANCES <br /> Be It Resolved by the Board of Commissioners of Orange County, North Carolina: <br /> WHEREAS, on the 3rd of May, 2022, the Board of County Commissioners adopted an amendment <br /> change to allow an additional non-voting youth member to the Orange County Parks and <br /> Recreation Council; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Orange County Parks and Recreation Council, an advisory board to the Board of <br /> County Commissioners, has proposed an amendment to the Orange County Code of Ordinances <br /> to allow a second additional non-voting youth member; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Council sees the value of having the perspective of a <br /> second youth member on the Council, as youth are a large part of the constituency and users of <br /> County recreation programs and facilities; and <br /> WHEREAS, the value of having a second youth representative to collaboratively work with their <br /> colleague to help advise and provide unique feedback on County recreation activities and park <br /> facilities is desirable, along with promoting a diversity of age for the Council's review and <br /> deliberations, both of these factors making the case to amend Chapter 26 of the Orange County <br /> Code of Ordinances accordingly; <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Orange County Board of Commissioners amends <br /> the Code of Ordinances, Orange County, North Carolina, Chapter 26, to add new language to <br /> subsections 26-115 and 26-117 as shown in the attached, to provide for the addition of a second <br /> non-voting youth member to the Parks and Recreation Council for the reasons stated above, with <br /> applications for such new member to be solicited by the Clerk to the Board's Office for future <br /> consideration and appointment. <br /> This Amendment shall become effective on February 28, 2023. <br /> Adopted by the Orange County Board of Commissioners this the 7th day of February, 2023. <br /> By: Attest: <br /> Jamezetta Bedford, Chair Laura Jensen, Clerk to the Board <br /> Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />
