1 <br /> APPROVED 1/17/23 <br /> MINUTES <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> BUSINESS MEETING <br /> December 5, 2022 <br /> 7:00 p.m. <br /> The Orange County Board of Commissioners met for a Business Meeting on Monday, <br /> December 5, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at the Whitted Human Services Center in Hillsborough, NC. <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair Jamezetta Bedford, Vice Chair Earl McKee, <br /> and Commissioners Amy Fowler, Sally Greene, Jean Hamilton, Renee Price, and Anna <br /> Richards <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None. <br /> COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: John Roberts <br /> COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Bonnie Hammersley, Deputy County Manager <br /> Travis Myren, and Clerk to the Board Laura Jensen. (All other staff members will be identified <br /> appropriately below) <br /> Chair Price called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. All commissioners were present. <br /> Oaths of Office for Board Members <br /> • NC State Senator and United States Representative-Elect Valerie Foushee administered <br /> the oath to Commissioner Earl McKee <br /> • NC State Senator and United States Representative-Elect Valerie Foushee administered <br /> the oath to Commissioner Jamezetta Bedford <br /> • Resident Superior Court Judge Alyson Grine administered the oath to Commissioner <br /> Sally Greene <br /> • NC State Senator and United States Representative-Elect Valerie Foushee administered <br /> the oath to Commissioner Anna Richards <br /> Commissioner Greene said she was delighted to serve a second term. She said she was <br /> proud of the accomplishments the Board has made and she looks forward to many more, <br /> beginning with the behavioral health center and homelessness, topics that would be discussed <br /> later in the meeting. <br /> Commissioner McKee thanked the citizens of Orange County for placing faith in him to serve <br /> another term. He also thanked his fellow commissioners. He said it was one of the most <br /> productive and enjoyable boards he has been part of. <br /> Commissioner Richards thanked the citizens of Orange County for allowing her the <br /> opportunity to serve. She said she was excited to take the oath of office with her mother in <br /> attendance. She said her parents inspired her to live a life of service and she was grateful to <br /> them. She said she looked forward to working with the Board for the betterment of Orange <br /> County. <br /> Commissioner Bedford echoed the other commissioners' statements and expressed <br /> appreciation to the people of Orange County. She also thanked the families of the seven <br /> commissioners for their support. She said she looked forward to working with everyone. She <br /> also expressed appreciation to staff for making the commissioners'jobs easier. <br />
