19 <br /> options and more practical accommodations for independent and semi-independent living <br /> than the current regulatory threshold of 800 square feet of heated space.The proposed <br /> new heated space regulations for both attached and detached accessory dwellings better <br /> serve the "livable design and social connections" needs established by Objective 3.1 and <br /> will allow for property owners to explore various designs and sizes of housing options for <br /> rent or ownership suitable for older adults identified by Objective 3.3. <br /> At the November 8th meeting of the Advisory Board on Aging this proposed amendment <br /> was discussed. We concur with the Planning staff that these amendments will better serve <br /> adopted Orange County goals and objectives and allow for a more livable community for <br /> Orange County residents of all ages.
