The Sheriff's Office has received a donation of $40,000 from the UNC Health Foundation. <br /> These funds will be used to purchase Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) for the <br /> Sheriff's Office. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is <br /> applicable to this item: <br /> • GOAL: CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY <br /> The reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and senior injuries, <br /> gang activity, substance abuse and domestic violence. <br /> County Capital Reserve <br /> 6. The County leased the prior Skills Development Center to Well Dot, Inc. and has received <br /> $250,000 in an initial deposit. The Skills Development Center was renovated in 2018, and <br /> was part of the financing package that year. Due to federal tax rules, any revenues received <br /> from leasing a property that is currently financed cannot fund operating expenses. Instead, <br /> the $250,000 deposit and all future Well Dot lease payments will be deposited to the County <br /> Capital Reserve for subsequent capital expenditures subject to additional budget <br /> amendments. All capital expenditures associated with these proceeds will be separately <br /> tracked for bond compliance purposes. This amendment increases the County Capital <br /> Reserve fund by $250,000, outside of the General Fund. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: There is no Orange County Social Justice Goal impact <br /> associated with this item. <br /> Housing and Criminal Justice Resource Departments <br /> 7. In November 2022, University Baptist Church in Chapel Hill sponsored an all-night run/walk <br /> to benefit non-profits and organizations supporting mental health in the community. The <br /> Church designated the Street Outreach, Harm Reduction and Deflection Program <br />
