2 <br /> 1 to the Board in the next few months. She said that she attended the ABC Board meeting today <br /> 2 and there will be a new applicant for consideration soon. She said they also approved changes <br /> 3 to their retention and recruitment policy to increase retention bonuses. She also announced that <br /> 4 Justice United invited several commissioners to an assembly on Thursday that will be focused on <br /> 5 gaps in mental health care for the Latinx community. <br /> 6 Commissioner Bedford thanked the election staff and temporary poll workers for their work <br /> 7 during the elections last week. <br /> 8 Commissioner Richards had no comments. <br /> 9 Commissioner Greene said she attended the Advisory Council on Aging of the Area <br /> 10 Agency on Aging meeting today. She said she there was a presentation on a startup called <br /> 11 CareYaya. She said they are operating out of Launch Chapel Hill. She said the founder <br /> 12 recognized that family members caring for loved ones who are terminally ill or badly ill can get <br /> 13 burned out and there are college students in the community who are interested in gaining <br /> 14 experience in this area. She said this company has connected these two communities and hires <br /> 15 someone to tend to your loved one for a period of time in your place. She said the website is <br /> 16 careyaya.org and said she would send the information to the Board as well. <br /> 17 Chair Price said the Veteran's Day program was a joint program with the UNC ROTC for <br /> 18 the first time and it was a success. She said there was also a breakfast in the morning at Passmore <br /> 19 Center and another later that day at the Seymour Center. She said she is thankful to staff for <br /> 20 helping with Operation Greenlight. She said the Solid Waste Department is holding a series of <br /> 21 public meetings to discuss going to zero waste. She said there is a meeting tomorrow in Chapel <br /> 22 Hill, as well as on December 5th at Bonnie B. Davis Environment and Agricultural Center and one <br /> 23 at Carrboro Town Hall. <br /> 24 Chair Price announced that since she won the election for the State House, she is <br /> 25 resigning effective December 31, 2022. She said she will provide her resignation to the Clerk and <br /> 26 also inform the Chair to the County's Democratic Party. <br /> 27 Commissioner Richards congratulated Chair Price on her win and wished her well. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 Commissioner McKee arrived at 7:10 pm. <br /> 30 <br /> 31 4. Proclamations/ Resolutions/ Special Presentations <br /> 32 <br /> 33 a. "The Nature of Orange" Photography Contest 2022 <br /> 34 The Board recognized the winners and thank all participants along with judges of"The Nature of <br /> 35 Orange" 2022 Photography Contest. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 BACKGROUND: The Orange County Commission for the Environment and the Parks and <br /> 38 Recreation Council were once again sponsors of this year's "The Nature of Orange" Photography <br /> 39 Contest, which was completed in June 2022. This year, the contest featured a theme of"Farms, <br /> 40 Parks and Trails in Orange County."The goal of the contest was to inspire exploration, celebration <br /> 41 and appreciation of Orange County's diverse landscapes and outdoor experiences. <br /> 42 Photographers help document the beauty and diversity of our natural resources, and people <br /> 43 connecting to their environment. <br /> 44 <br /> 45 A total of 57 photographs were submitted throughout the contest. A panel of judges selected first, <br /> 46 second and third place winners from the Youth and Adult divisions. In addition, judges identified <br /> 47 one Honorable Mention award per division based on the many high-quality submissions. This <br /> 48 year's judges were photographers David Pruitt, Nick Galin, and Kayla McKenzie. <br /> 49 <br /> 50 Winners received a congratulatory letter, certificate, and a small monetary prize. Typically, the <br /> 51 photographs are displayed throughout Orange County at locations such as at the Orange County <br />
