Petrie Spaying and Neutering Private <br /> Foundation for the spay/neuter program. <br /> o Starting a market campaign"If you love them, license them." <br /> ■ Increases the likelihood of lost pets being returned to their owners. <br /> ■ Helps pets and people in the community. <br /> ■ Assists with public health and rabies prevention <br /> o OCAS documents are being translated into Spanish. <br /> o Elon student will be partnering with OCAS on a data analysis project. <br /> o OCAS participating in a national workgroup (Shelter Animals Count) collecting <br /> sheltering statistics. <br /> o There was a cyber-bullying case that generated an emergency animal cruelty <br /> complaint and subsequent social media frenzy. The animals were put into a small <br /> cage for a short time to secure them, but a neighbor took a picture, filed a complaint, <br /> and posted in on social media. The neighbor later issued an apology. <br /> o In 2016 the Unified Animal Ordinance was changed to allow free roaming cats so <br /> that they could be trapped, neutered, vaccinated, and returned(TNVR) to their <br /> colony. This has resulted in a significant reduction in the number of cats being <br /> euthanized.
