6 <br /> <br />Slide #8 <br /> <br />Slide #9 <br /> <br /> Ashley Heger said the last time she presented to the Board, she highlighted five issues <br />that are related to food insecurity. She listed four of them to the Board: housing, direct food <br />programs, economic development, and transportation. She said the purpose was to get closer <br />to the solutions by getting closer to the problem. She asked that the Board focus their time and <br />attention on the recommendations that came from the community. <br /> Commissioner Fowler asked if Ashley Heger followed up on the recommendations or if <br />this report is the follow-up to those recommendations. She said Food For Summer is run <br />through the school system and that is not part of the MOU. <br /> Ashley Heger said they were in the process of organizing with community experts that <br />are already advocates for their communities. She said they are working with those experts on <br />how they want to build bridges and that school foods can be difficult to navigate due to issues <br />like USDA policies and other federal programs. She said that the decision makers will direct <br />the action. She said earlier in 2022, the Food Council requested ARPA funding to create a food <br />justice fund. She said they were not awarded the funds, so instead, the Food Council used
