1 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: December 13, 2022 <br /> Action Agenda <br /> Item No. 8-e <br /> SUBJECT: North Carolina Local Government Commission Contract Amendment <br /> DEPARTMENT: Finance and Administrative Services <br /> ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br /> Gary Donaldson, (919) 245-2453 <br /> 1. Local Government Commission <br /> Contract Amendment <br /> PURPOSE: To amend the contract with the North Carolina Local Government Commission (LGC) <br /> to modify the audit fee to include two (2) additional major programs not covered by the <br /> engagement letter. The original fee included six (6) major programs and the composition of the <br /> County's Schedule of Federal and State Awards (SEFSA) required that eight (8) programs be <br /> audited. <br /> BACKGROUND: The North Carolina Local Government Commission (LGC) requires that all local <br /> governments must receive approval for contracts and amendments. This amendment is being <br /> submitted to reflect the two additional programs being audited and the commensurate increase in <br /> the audit fee. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: The contract amount is amended from $96,000 to $111,000 to reflect two <br /> additional grant award audit requirements. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is applicable to <br /> this item: <br /> • GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br /> The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding necessary <br /> for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for themselves and their <br /> dependents. <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: There is no Orange County Environmental Responsibility Goal <br /> impact associated with this item. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve and authorize the <br /> Chair to sign the LGC contract amendment. <br />
