12 <br /> Attachment 4 <br /> C4069-3/02 <br /> Solid Waste Materials Transfer Operator <br /> GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK: <br /> Performs intermediate skilled work operating over the road tractor-trailer vehicles to transport <br /> various materials and products to market; does related work as required. <br /> Work is performed under regular supervision. <br /> TYPICAL TASKS; <br /> Transports to market the separated regulated recyclables generated from the construction and <br /> demolition waste or other reusable materials delivered to the landfill; <br /> Drives an over the road tractor-trailer vehicle delivering a variety of recyclable products to <br /> vendors; <br /> Operates any equipment necessary to transport, manage and process recyclable materials, <br /> including roll-off trucks, forklifts, bobcat type loader, compactors, balers and the like; <br /> Communicates with buyers/receivers of materials about the specifications and delivery <br /> requirements; <br /> Performs maintenance on vehicles and ensures equipment is functioning properly; <br /> Maintains awareness of market specifications to improve product quality; <br /> Maintains logbooks and operating records as required by the Department of Transportation; <br /> Performs related tasks as required. <br /> KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: <br /> Thorough knowledge of the operation and maintenance of a variety of motorized vehicles; <br /> thorough knowledge of traffic laws and regulations; ability to understand and follow oral and <br /> written directions and to read a map; ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to <br /> equipment; ability to prepare forms and maintain records; ability to communicate with the public; <br /> ability to work independently. <br /> EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: <br /> Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and at <br /> least two years experience loading and unloading various materials or products using vehicles <br /> that require a commercial driver's license or related work experience. <br /> SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: <br /> Must possess a Class A commercial driver's license. Must be able to obtain a DOT health card <br /> and annual renewal is required. <br />
