300 <br />authorized to employ a janitor for the new agricultural building at the salary of <br />$30.00 per week. <br />Walter Wrenn, Veterans Service officer, submitted his resignation from this <br />position effective March 31, 1963. The <br />Clerk was ask to contact the applicants and inform them that interviews would be <br />held on Monday, March 4, 1963. <br />The Board of Commissioners adjourned and re-convened as a Board of Equalization <br />and Review. <br />Charles Crowder of Chapel Hill stated that he considered the appraised value on <br />his new home which is located in Stateside out of proportion with the appraised value <br />on his property which is located on Severin Street in Colonial Heights. He, objected <br />on the basic that the Stateside property was appraised at $10,000.00 and the Colonial <br />Heights property was appraised at $9,500.00. The Board ask the Tax Supervisor to <br />re-check the two houses and to advise the Board and Mr. Crowder of his findings. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board of Equalization and <br />Review said meeting was adjourned and re-convened as a Board of Commissioners. <br />Chairman Stanford reviewed the proposed legislation adopted by the Board of <br />Directors of the N. C. Commissioners Association. <br />Chairman Stanford read a letter from the State Hi hway Commission which stated <br />that the Commission had "in putting up the names on I-85 for the intersecting roads <br />at the interchanges, through error, "Old NO 86" was designated as "Prison Camp Road". <br />It is our plan to change this name to "Old NO 86", and in order to keep our records <br />straight, it will be appreciated if you will ask your Board to pass a Resolution <br />indicating their concurrence in the change." <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Bennett, seconded by Commissioner Smith, and <br />unanimously adopted, the State Highway Commission was authorized to proceed with its <br />plans to change the road signs on the interchange of I-85 from "Prison Camp Road to <br />"Old N. C. 86". <br />A discussion arose concerning the compensation now being received by the orange <br />ty Board of Commissioners. <br />Chairman Stanford informed the Board that be, the Tax Supervisor, and the <br />Register of Deeds would be attending the Second Urban Conference which was being held <br />in Washington, D.
