BACKGROUND: The Alcoholic Beverage Control Board has the authority to buy, sell, transport and possess alcoholic beverages for the operation of its stores. This Board also adopts rules for the ABC system and has the authority to hire and dismiss employees. The Board of County Commissioners appoints all five (5) At-Large members. The folll wing individual is recommended for Board consideration: NAME SPECIAL TYPE OF EXPIRATION REPRESENTATIVE APPOINTMENT DATE TERM Melvin Green At-Large Partial Term 06/30/2023 If the individual listed above is appointed, no vacancies remain. FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with this item. SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is applicable to this item: • GOAL: ENABLE FULL CIVIC PARTICIPATION Ensure that Orange County residents are able to engage government through voting and volunteering by eliminating disparities in participation and barriers to participation. RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board discuss and consider making an appointment to the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board.
