MINUTES <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH <br /> October 26,2022 <br /> COVID numbers. Ms. Prelipp also announced that this would be her last BOH meeting as she <br /> has accepted a promotion with the Community Relations department in OC. <br /> Media items were in the packet which focused on Orange County's events and our <br /> involvement in various efforts. <br /> B. Health Directors Report <br /> In addition to her report, Ms. Stewart briefly highlighted the following: <br /> • The submission date for Accreditation documentation is November 1 st. The site visit is <br /> scheduled for January 12, 2023. Two BOH members will need to be interviewed. <br /> • The BOH Retreat may occur in February or March. La Toya Strange will send out a <br /> Doodle Poll with proposed dates. <br /> • The state of NC and County of Orange have the same percentage rate of those that <br /> have received the new booster— 11%. <br /> • There are new COVID variants (BQ.1 and BQ.1.1 are offshoots—grandchildren, if you <br /> will—of the BA.5 that's been dominant for months). CDC continues to closely monitor all <br /> SARS-Co-V-2 variants. Currently, no SARS-Co-V-2 variants are designated as variant of <br /> high consequence (VOHC). <br /> • There has been an increase in RSV cases. The public is encouraged to take <br /> precautions, get the flu vaccination and COVID-19 boosters. <br /> • LINC-CH continues to test their water fountains for lead. They are providing education <br /> and testing to students and staff as needed. <br /> • OCHD vacancies are still a work in progress with the intent to fill them as soon as <br /> possible. <br /> VIII. Board Comments <br /> Dr. Baldwin, Chair, mentioned that he sent a draft copy of the closed session minutes from Ms. <br /> Stewart's annual performance review. After finalizing the minutes, Dr. Baldwin will forward the <br /> minutes to Ms. Strange and OC HR. He also informed the Board that the BOCC will vote on <br /> their recommendation for the vacant At-Large representative seat on November 1 st <br /> Keith Bagby, Vice-Chair, distributed Got Meds magnets, which detail how to dispose of <br /> medications safely. He obtained them from the Orange Partnership for Alcohol and Drug Free <br /> Youth. <br /> Commissioner Jean Hamilton reiterated the process of appointments and the BOCC's role. She <br /> stated that the BOCC would discuss the Board's recommendation at their next work session <br /> with a formal appointment occurring at the November 1 st meeting. Commissioner Hamilton also <br /> mentioned the Opioid Advisory Committee and the importance of BOH's involvement. Ms. <br /> Stewart responded by informing the Board that this topic is on the agenda for next month's BOH <br /> meeting. <br /> XI.
