Carrboro Northern Transition Area Advisory Committee – Appointment Discussion <br />The Board considered an appointment to the Carrboro Northern Transition Area Advisory <br />Committee. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: The Carrboro Northern Transition Area Advisory Committee reviews zoning <br />amendment requests and special/conditional use permit applications for developments within the <br />Northern Transition Area of Carrboro. The committee makes recommendations to the Carrboro <br />Board of Adjustment or Carrboro Town Council. It inventories areas of cultural, archaeological, <br />historical significance; areas of open space, rural character, scenic qualities, biological values; <br />areas of agricultural uses; and makes recommendations based on the above studies for additional <br />policies, goals, etc. that will preserve and enhance the special character of this area, and relate <br />to its growth. <br /> <br />The Board of County Commissioners appoints three (3) members. All members must be residents <br />of the Northern Transition Area. She said the abstract had a typo, and that the appointment <br />would be for a partial term ending in January 2023. She said then the recommended applicant <br />would be eligible for a first full term. <br /> Chair Price asked for clarification on the partial term followed by the first full term. She <br />noted that the appointment under consideration would only be for a few months. <br /> The Board decided instead to appoint the recommended applicant for a first full term. <br /> <br />
