1 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: April 16, 2002 <br /> Action Agen a <br /> Item No. <br /> SUBJECT: Removal of a Member and Reappointments to the Adult Care Home <br /> Community Advisory Committee <br /> DEPARTMENT: Board of Commissioners PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No <br /> ATTACHMENT(S): Under Separate Cover: INFORMATION CONTACT: <br /> Membership Roster Clerk's Office, ext. 2130, 2125, 2126, 2129 <br /> Letter to Remove <br /> Letter of Recommendation TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br /> Resumes/Applications of Those Hillsborough 245-2130 <br /> Recommended Chapel Hill 968-4501 <br /> Interest List Durham 688-7331 <br /> Mebane 336-227-2031 <br /> PURPOSE: To remove one member for excessive absenteeism from, and to reappoint three <br /> members to, the Adult Care Home Advisory Committee. <br /> BACKGROUND: Pursuant to the Orange County Resolution regarding Appointment and <br /> Orientation Process for Boards and Commissions,amended June 6, 2000, Item No. 7, "If an <br /> appointee, in any calendar year, has absences which constitute more than 25 percent of the <br /> regularly-scheduled Board meetings or three consecutive meetings, whichever comes first, <br /> which he or she is required to attend, he or she is obligated to resign. The Board of <br /> Commissioners may consider extenuating circumstances. If the individual refuses to resign, he <br /> or she may be removed by action of the Board of County Commissioners subject to state or <br /> local law. Tracy Diefenderfer has had excessive absenteeism and not participated in any facility <br /> visits in the last six months. She has not responded to any requests to discuss her involvement <br /> (see attached letter.) <br /> Three members of the Adult Care Home Advisory Committee are eligible for reappointment. <br /> They are Charron Andrews, Carol Gunther-Mohr, and Alice V. McCall Smith. A letter of <br /> recommendation has been received from Ann Bradford, Staff Support, on behalf of the <br /> Committee, for the reappointment of these members. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: None <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): Remove Tracy Diefenderfer from the Adult Care Home Community <br /> Advisory Committee and reappoint the following members: Charron Andrews, third term; Carol <br /> Gunther-Mohr, first term; and Alice V. McCall-Smith, first term; each to have a term expiration <br /> date of March 31, 2004. <br />
