Carrboro Northern Transition Area Advisory Committee—Appointment Discussion <br /> 13 The Board considered an appointment to the Carrboro Northern Transition Area Advisory <br /> 14 Committee. <br /> 15 <br /> 16 BACKGROUND: The Carrboro Northern Transition Area Advisory Committee reviews zoning <br /> 17 amendment requests and special/conditional use permit applications for developments within the <br /> 18 Northern Transition Area of Carrboro. The committee makes recommendations to the Carrboro <br /> 19 Board of Adjustment or Carrboro Town Council. It inventories areas of cultural, archaeological, <br /> 20 historical significance; areas of open space, rural character, scenic qualities, biological values; <br /> 21 areas of agricultural uses; and makes recommendations based on the above studies for additional <br /> 22 policies, goals, etc. that will preserve and enhance the special character of this area, and relate <br /> 23 to its growth. <br /> 24 <br /> 25 The Board of County Commissioners appoints three (3)members. All members must be residents <br /> 26 of the Northern Transition Area. She said the abstract had a typo, and that the appointment <br /> 34 would be for a partial term ending in January 2023. She said then the recommended applicant <br /> 35 would be eligible for a first full term. <br /> 36 Chair Price asked for clarification on the partial term followed by the first full term. She <br /> 37 noted that the appointment under consideration would only be for a few months. <br /> 38 The Board decided instead to appoint the recommended applicant for a first full term. <br /> 39 <br /> 40 <br />
