Attachment 1 <br /> 1 <br /> 1 DRAFT MINUTES <br /> 2 ORANGE COUNTY <br /> 3 BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> 4 BUSINESS MEETING <br /> 5 October 18, 2022 <br /> 6 7:00 p.m. <br /> 7 <br /> 8 The Orange County Board of Commissioners met for a Business Meeting on Tuesday, October <br /> 9 18, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at the Whitted Human Services Center in Hillsborough, NC. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair Renee Price, Vice Chair Jamezetta Bedford, <br /> 12 and Commissioners Amy Fowler, Sally Greene, Jean Hamilton, and Anna Richards <br /> 13 COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None. <br /> 14 COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: John Roberts <br /> 15 COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Bonnie Hammersley, Deputy County Manager <br /> 16 Travis Myren, and Clerk to the Board Laura Jensen. (All other staff members will be identified <br /> 17 appropriately below) <br /> 18 <br /> 19 Chair Price called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. All commissioners were present. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 1. Additions or Changes to the Agenda <br /> 22 Chair Price noted that item 8-g on the consent agenda will be removed and considered at <br /> 23 a later date. She also requested consideration of an additional item under 6-c at the request of <br /> 24 Community Home Trust. <br /> 25 <br /> 26 A motion was made by Commissioner Bedford, seconded by Commissioner Greene, to <br /> 27 add an item on Community Home Trust as item 6-c. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 30 <br /> 31 Chair Price dispensed with reading the public charge. <br /> 32 <br /> 33 2. Public Comments (Limited to One Hour) <br /> 34 a. Matters not on the Printed Agenda <br /> 35 <br /> 36 There was no one signed up to speak on matters not on the printed agenda. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 b. Matters on the Printed Agenda <br /> 39 (These matters will be considered when the Board addresses that item on the agenda below.) <br /> 40 <br /> 41 3. Announcements, Petitions and Comments by Board Members <br /> 42 Commissioner Greene said she was unable to attend a recent event celebrating the <br /> 43 Neuse River as "River of the Year" by the American River non-profit organization, but wanted to <br /> 44 highlight the improvements to the river over the last fifteen years. She said that October 18, 2022 <br /> 45 is the 50th anniversary of the Clean Water Act. <br /> 46 Commissioner Fowler said she attended recent meetings for TARPO, the Policy Steering <br /> 47 Committee, and the ABC Board. She said that the NC Transportation Planning Department will <br /> 48 receive $1.9 million for EV charging stations to be distributed throughout the state. She said there <br /> 49 was also a request for proposals from CMAC for about $200,000 with a 20% match for which <br /> 50 Orange County could be eligible. She said at the Policy Steering Committee they learned that <br /> 51 there are federal funds to help move forward with the North/South Bus Rapid Transit line on <br />
