3
the next Ag Summit has been set for Feb. 201h, 2023, to be held at the Cedar Grove
Community Center.
b. Ag Economic Development Update: Ortosky provided a brief overview of current activities.
There is a Tri-COG project looking at food production and distribution in three Council of
Government regions. At the Breeze Farm we are woefully underfunded, but there is a
remainder trust set up by the Breeze family that is on the order of$800,000 that can now
help provide support for the farm operations. They have two growers there doing work
right now, along with some incubator activities. We've had several farmers who have
graduated from the Breeze farm and purchased farmland and become successful farmers.
Our new sustainability coordinator, Amy Eckburg, is working a project to do research on the
issue of how to integrate farming activities into solar production facilities, so there is a
chance to do something along these lines at Breeze.
8. Time for Information Sharing: Myers shared a matter of a small airstrip on a property adjoining
hers where they fly over at very low altitudes near US 86 at Cedar Grove near the county
line, and wondered if this was addressed in our existing county zoning. Discussion followed.
9. Adjournment: Saiers moved to adjourn, seconded by Sykes. Meeting adjourned at 8:21 pm.
