4 <br />GAP <br />PROGRESS <br />SINCE JUNE 2019 STATUS NOTES <br />NEEDED <br />TO FILL <br />Income-based <br />rental housing <br />Some units <br />available in the <br />community from <br />Town/County <br />subsidies and <br />HUD subsidies, <br />but referrals were <br />not coordinated <br />or prioritized and <br />the community <br />need outstrips <br />the number of <br />available units; <br />There has been <br />a significant <br />expansion in <br />the availability <br />of Housing <br />Choice Vouchers <br />(HCV) since Oct <br />2020 with 100% <br />of vouchers <br />available through <br />coordinated entry <br />PARTIALLY <br />FILLED <br />Progress has been made with <br />Master Leasing but barriers exist <br />in the application process that <br />exacerbate the lack of affordable <br />housing options for people with <br />criminal justice backgrounds and <br />eviction histories <br />9,553 <br />households <br />are currently <br />“rent <br />burdened” <br />meaning <br />they spend <br />more than <br />30% of their <br />income on <br />housing costs <br />Program Description: <br />Having an adequate supply of housing that people can afford is one of the key drivers of ending homelessness. <br />People are less likely to become homeless if they are not rent burdened and more likely to exit homelessness faster <br />if they can find housing that is affordable. Income based rental housing uses household income to determine <br />amount of rent paid by clients.
