Renee: Durham Co. is going to do a bond referendum in <br /> a few years for—$440 million and are planning for it now <br /> to do an overhaul of schools <br /> 1. Need safe and modern classrooms <br /> 2. Will have an impact on Orange County <br /> a. Parents, teachers, and community <br /> members will compare OC to Durham <br /> Co. <br /> 3. Durham is planning videos and ambassadors to <br /> share info with public and plan <br /> xiii. Bonnie: Guilford did something similar with $800 <br /> million bond,worked with consultant on a joint planning <br /> effort and came up with $2 billion facility plan <br /> 1. We could ask Guilford how they did it <br /> xiv. Jean: Can we use ARPA $ to hire a consultant? <br /> xv. Eric: leaving CHCCS to work for a private developer to <br /> manage the Guilford building project(Wake is doing the <br /> same with Cumming Project Management—fees are paid <br /> out of the bond) <br /> 1. Will be happy to come back and share <br /> information about that process with this group <br /> 2. Will be a 10 year project over 20 schools <br /> a. $500 million for life cycle replacements <br /> 3. Goal is to use as many Guilford County-based <br /> companies as possible <br /> 4.
