Dr. Kerri Hefner
Name Called:
Home Address: 1418 Camp Circle
Chapel Hill NC 27514
Phone: 9199036172
Email: kerri.hefner@gmail.com
Year of OC Residence: 2012
Township of Residence: Chapel Hill
Zone of Residence: County
Gender Identity: Female
Ethnic Background: White
Age Range: 35-59
Community Activities/Organizational Memberships:
Pastor, New Hope Presbyterian Church, Chapel Hill
Past Service on Orange County Advisory Boards:
Opioid Advisory Committee
Boards/Commissions applied for:
Opioid Advisory Committee
Background, education and experience relevant to this board:
One person close to me overcame opioid addiction. Another person close to me was not
necessarily addicted but their death may have been hastened by a doctor who liberally
prescribed opiates. Professionally, my ministry has crossed paths with the opioid epidemic
several times: ministering to families after a fatal overdose, ministering to a woman whose
relatives were stealing her prescription.
Reasons for wanting to serve on this board:
Since the early 2000s, when I served a church in a rural area and began hearing of heavy opioid
usage and theft of the drugs, it has been a concern for me. I hope we can end this epidemic
soon.
Contribution to the diversity of viewpoints on this board:
As a pastor I have heard from many sides: the experience of patients with chronic pain, the
challenges medical providers face, the experience of families of opioid users.
Conflict of Interest:
Boards/Commissions appointments:
Other Comments:
This application was current on: 9/20/2022 11:26:12 AM Date Printed: 9/22/2022
