I received my Masters in <br /> Counseling Education from NCCU.I am trained in Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF), which <br /> is an approach endorsed by SAMHSA, and the seven strategies to effective community change <br /> used by Centers for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP). I have worked on prescription drug <br /> misuse for over 10 yrs in Orange County. I advocated for naloxone in 2012, particularly for law <br /> enforcement partners. I worked closely with Lt. Forrest Orr to obtain naloxone for NC Wildlife, <br /> who at the time were not being granted access to this lifesaving treatment. I served as one of the <br /> original members of the NC DHHS Opioid/Prescription Drug Advisory Committee (on <br /> Community Engagement). It is though OPDAAC Community Engagement subcommittee work <br /> that the Lock Your Meds initiative was borne, modeled after the Orange Partnership Talk It UP! <br /> Lock it UP! campaign. As a Program Director, I have experience in budgeting. I have served on <br /> JCPC s Funding and Risks and Needs subcommittees. As President of our property owners <br /> association, I had experience with reviewing budgets. <br /> Reasons for wanting to serve on this board: <br /> I have seen the destruction of opioid use disorders (OUD) I have family in recovery from opioid <br /> addiction. I have a passion for helping people, advocating of healthy communities and <br /> supporting those in recovery. <br />
