I assisted the Detention center in starting its OUD treatment program and <br /> provide technical assistance to the Lantern Project. I am a provider at PHS Chapel Hill <br /> clinic where I treat people coming from the detention center with opioid use disorder and <br /> prescribe suboxone. <br /> Past Service on Orange County Advisory Boards: <br /> None <br /> Boards/Commissions applied for: <br /> Opioid Advisory Committee <br /> Background, education and experience relevant to this board: <br /> I am a UNC family physician that started the Formerly Incarcerated Transition (FIT) Program. I <br /> have worked extensively with the health department, CJRD and Sheriff on improving treatment <br /> for people in Orange County who suffer from Opioid Use Disorder(OUD). I am also a provider of <br /> medication for opioid use disorder for people in orange county impacted by incarceration at the <br /> PHS Chapel Hill Clinic. In addition I provide technical assistance to the Lantern Project and other <br /> programs around the state connecting people to evidence based treatment for OUD. <br /> Reasons for wanting to serve on this board: <br /> I very much want our county to support the most impactful and effective strategies for OUD and <br /> prevention of overdose. I have expertise in this area and local connections to most programs <br /> and providers <br /> Contribution to the diversity of viewpoints on this board: <br /> I would bring the perspective of a treating provider of people with OUD that are impacted by <br /> incarceration and knowledge of what is being done around our state and nationally.
