26 <br /> Elected Official's Guide to Emergencies and Disasters <br /> Emergency/Disaster Assistance <br /> The following steps are required to receive Federal assistance. The Chair or Vice Chair <br /> of the Board of County Commissioners is the only official that may issue the proclamation <br /> that will begin the process for requesting Federal involvement. In the absence of the Chair <br /> or Vice Chair, the next individual in the order of succession (page 4.3) can issue the <br /> proclamation. County departments, as well as municipal officials, will play key roles in <br /> providing information necessary for such a proclamation and will be involved throughout <br /> the entire process. <br /> Conditions <br /> indicate a local Chair of the Chair of the requests <br /> disaster is likely Board issues a Board request Presidential <br /> to occur or has Declaration of declaration from Declaration <br /> already occurred Emergency the Governor <br /> Local municipalities can declare a local emergency prior to countywide, state or federal <br /> declarations.
