EFLAND/BUCKHORN EDD/CHEEKS <br /> PLANNING AREA STUDY <br /> FY 2002-2003 <br /> GOAL OUTLINE <br /> Conduct a comprehensive study and recommendation for the <br /> development of the Efland/Buckhorn EDD/Cheeks to examine all facets of <br /> growth including environmental impact, water, sewer, traffic, urban/rural <br /> growth patterns. (Target Date - November 2002 Quarterly Public Hearing) <br /> OBJECTIVE 1 <br /> Analyze existing conditions and area growth potential and determine <br /> urban/village growth boundaries (VGB) including urban service lines, that <br /> demarcate the village higher residential density and non-residential <br /> intensity patterns from rural non-public water and sewer development. <br /> a) Create urban service line <br /> b) Develop village core areas and associated uses <br /> c) Develop village support areas and associated uses <br /> d) Develop growth pattern for areas outside of urban service line to <br /> highlight rural lifestyle and discourage urban sprawl <br /> OBJECTIVE 2 <br /> Evaluate, report, and initiate activities and processes to examine the <br /> potential of the Orange-Alamance water system. <br /> a) Present status and potential <br /> b) Coordination with sewer system placement <br /> c) Governmental coordination and cooperation regarding expansion <br /> policy - <br /> d) What roles can Mebane and Hillsborough play? <br /> 1 <br />
