The Boards agreed <br />this should be done. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Jones, seconded by Commissioner Walker for the purpose <br />of discussion, the following motion was presented, that zoning be instituted in an areE <br />coincedent with the boundaries of the Town of Hillsboro. <br />A discussion ensued pertaining to this motion and Commissioner Walker withdrew <br />his second. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Jones, seconded by Commissioner Bennett for the <br />purpose of discussion, the following motion was presented, that the zoning ordinance <br />be put into effect immediately in the Hillsboro Township, including the Town of <br />Hillsboro except in the area of Hillsboro Township that lies west of a line running <br />from Chapel Hill Township to Ceder Grove Township and paralleling and coinciding with <br />the western boundary of the Town of Hillsboro. <br />Discussion ensued pertaining to Commissioners Jones, motion. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Jones and unanimously adopted the matter pertaining <br />to the zoning of the Town of Hillsboro was tabled. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Walker, seconded by Commissioner McDade, it was <br />moved and unanimously adopted, that a public hearing be held if Commissioner Jones <br />last motion be brought forth for reconsideration. <br />A letter from the Orange County Historical Museum was presented by Chairman <br />Stanford. It stated that the members of the Museum Committee had been informed that <br />the county planned to repair or replace the existing roof on the old Orange County <br />Courthouse. The Committee requested that in the event a new roof,is scheduled <br />and if it were at all feasible that an effort be made to see that an authenticate <br />replacement of the roof be considered. <br />A letter from Elaine G. Dorsett, Executive Secretary of the Hillsboro Chamber <br />of Commerce & Merchants Association, was presented by Chairman Stanford. Mrs. <br />Dorsett asked "would the county be willing to include in its budget an appropriation <br />for the publication of County-Wide brochures". She stated that these are needed <br />because of the numerous request for brochures received by her office. <br />A letter of application from Clayton L. Haithcock for the position of Veterans <br />Service Officer was presented by Chairman Stanford. The Clerk was requested to <br />file said letter. <br />Chairman Stanford read a letter from H. Conway Browning. Mr. Browning requested <br />that the Board become a member of the Eno Fire Protection Association ro to make a <br />contribution to said Association, as.he felt that said Association was performing a <br />public service in and for the community. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Bennett, seconded by Commissioner Walker, and <br />unanimously adopted, one hundred dollars ($100.00) was appropriated for contribution <br />to the Eno Fire Protection Association. <br />The Board of Education requested that they be given permission to proceed with <br />plans for the construction of Central Junior High School. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner McDade, seconded by Commissioner Walker, and <br />unanimously adopted, the Board of Education was granted permission to proceed with <br />construction plans for Central Junior High School. <br />The following road petitions were submitted and the Clerk was authorized to <br />forward same to the State Highway Commission, <br />1. Cheeks & Buckhorn Road <br />Chairman Stanford informed the Board that due to the world situation at this <br />time Walter Wrenn former Civil Defense Director had returned to this position for a <br />temporary period. The Chairman emphasized that the Board must in the near future <br />I select a new Civil Defense Director. <br />The following names were drawn to serve as Jurors for the December 1st 'term <br />of Criminal,Court,and the January, 1963, term of Civil Court. <br />December Term <br />1.
