<br />Program information Page 11 of 33 <br /> Holding a Walk to the Polls Event – a gathering to eat, fellowship, and walk <br />to the polls to vote <br /> Holding or co-sponsoring more than 25 trainings, workshops, and Power <br />Hours in our local community (topics have included: Criminal Justice Debt <br />Project; Housing Discrimination; First Hand Stories of Race, Policing, and <br />Justice) <br /> Mobilizing people to advocate at local government and community meetings <br />for affordable housing, public safety, public transportation, and justice, <br />including the Chapel Hill Community Policing Advisory Committee, the <br />Carrboro Affordable Housing Advisory Commission, the Chapel Hill Justice <br />in Action Committee, and the Chapel Hill Criminal Justice Debt Relief <br />Committee. <br /> Forming Training for Action Progress (TAP), a leadership development <br />pipeline that deepens the bench of leaders in our community to include <br />people who lead with lived experience <br /> Forming the Living Legends project, a group of young folks in our <br />community learning their power and voice to advocate and elevate their <br />lived experience via conversations with community elders <br /> Co-sponsoring the House Us Now! Rally – an event that highlighted the <br />area’s affordable housing crisis, during which people most impacted by the <br />lack of affordable housing made speeches and shared their experiences. <br />This included current and former shelter residents and staff. <br /> Screening Summer of Soul – a documentary about the Harlem Cultural <br />Festival, followed by a panel discussion that included professors from Duke <br />and NCSU. <br /> Holding a Juneteenth celebration <br /> Co-sponsoring an Affordable Housing Panel Discussion - centered on the <br />housing needs of people living at or below 30% of area median income. <br />Panelists represented people with lived experience of homelessness, <br />non-profit and service-provider leadership, community advocates and <br />local government representatives <br /> Holding an affordable housing advocacy training and virtual screening of <br />Affordable Housing: The Musical - stories and outcry related to our <br />community’s affordable housing crisis <br /> Using a grant from Movement for Black Lives, bringing on 5 Fall Into Freedom <br />Fellows to amplify their community organizing efforts.
