Date of Incorporation (Month/Year): IFC was founded in 1963 and was incorporated in November 1970 <br /> <br />2. Agency’s Purpose/Mission (no more than a few sentences): <br />IFC confronts the causes and responds to the effects of poverty in our community. We <br />believe in a community that meets everyone's basic needs, including dignified and <br />affordable housing, an abundance of healthy food, and meaningful social connection. <br /> <br />3. Please provide a brief description of your organization’s past achievements in carrying out similar <br />projects and evidence of successful record of meeting proposed budgets and timetables (no more than <br />100 words). <br />In 1963, seven women united to address poverty in Chapel Hill and Carrboro. Since <br />then, IFC has become the primary non-profit provider of basic needs services for people <br />in our community. IFC has built capacity over decades to respond to residents’ diverse <br />needs in partnership with local congregations, foundations, individuals, businesses, <br />partner service providers, and governments. Four years ago, we shifted to a social <br />justice model, where all stakeholders shape IFC practices through a racial equity lens. <br />We respond to food and housing inequities through direct services, as well as advocacy <br />to address the root causes of these inequities. <br /> <br />4. IFC could not operate without them. <br />NEW THIS YEAR <br />Consistent with our commitment to equity and inclusion, the Towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro and <br />Orange County Government are taking steps together to center racial equity in the Human Services <br />Funding Program. Over the course of the next year, the Towns and County will conduct a comprehensive <br />racial-equity analysis of the program and we are requesting basic information about your organization’s <br />racial equity work. <br /> <br />a.
