Program informationPage 2 of 10
Intended beneficiaries are current and potential renters , usually low income, usually
minorities. Pre-COVID: regular neighborhood and tenant meetings were held for
suggestions on planning and design for upcoming projects. Post -Covid: Rely on virtual
listening sessions, limited community meetings, food, and gift certificates giveaways
(outside) which give EI the opportunity to ask for input. Tenants are encouraged to share
their ideas via phone or via the EI website. Information sharing wit h other non-profits likely
to be serving the same populations: Community Empowerment, Jackson Center, DSS,
area churches, Family Success Alliance, Interfaith Council has proven successful .
b. How has your organization racial equity goals into your organizational goals?

EI understands that the wealth and income status of individuals can be directly traced to
racial discrimination and bias. EI has created an infrastructure to achieve racial equity
goals for renters by supplying housing counseling, financial literacy, and strategic
partnerships that help people of color thrive, thus reducing racial disparities between this
population and the more privileged. EI partners with organizations throughout the
communities of Northside and Pine Knolls to understand and target community-based
needs. EI also works with other non-English speaking communities such as manufactured
home communities to provide resources to assist and bridge language, transportation,
and employment barriers.

a. Please fill in the below questions and provide any additional context on the racial
composition of the organization and board leadership:

i. % of staff that are people of color: 100%
ii. % of board that are people of color: 75%
iii. % of staff that have attended racial equity training: 95%

b. Please describe any additional activities your organization is doing to address racial
equity.

EI currently has 3 programs whose focus is to address racial equity in Orange County.
The Home Buyers Education classes and Foreclosure Prevention Program targets
potential and current homeowners. In addition, the newly created Eviction Stabilization
Counseling Program, for renters was established to offer people of color the opportunity
to receive counseling as well as connect them to resources such as the HOPE Program,
Emergency Housing Assistance (EHA) program and local organizations to keep them
housed during the current pandemic.

DocuSign Envelope ID: 7E3B840A-729F-4167-AA3E-B7E3D1B7700F
