Agency’s Purpose/Mission (no more than a few sentences): <br /> <br />EMPOWERment, Inc.'s (EI) mission is to empower individuals and communities to <br />achieve their destiny through community organizing, affordable housing, and grassroots <br />economic development. EmPOWERment’s affordable housing mission is to reduce or <br />remove housing barriers for the most vulnerable populations in Chapel Hill and give them <br />priority in receiving aid. <br /> <br />3. Please provide a brief description of your organization’s past achievements in carrying out similar <br />projects and evidence of a successful record of mee ting proposed budgets and timetables (no <br />more than 100 words). <br />EMPOWERment Inc (EI) has a mission to provide safe affordable rentals to underserved <br />communities by 1) Rental acquisitions- for the last 5 years the rental inventory has <br />increased by 2 units- we have consistently been on time and on budget for these <br />acquisitions 2) Affordable rental advocacy: EI has advocated for protection of <br />manufactured home parks (the most affordable rentals) working with Tarheel and <br />Lakeview mobile home park residents advocate for their homes 3) Reducing barriers to <br />minority and women owned entrepreneurs- facilitated weekly resource sharing sessions <br />encouraging owners to apply for grants targeting sustainability . <br /> <br />4. Living Wage: Does this agency pay permanent employees a minimum living wage? YES <br /> <br />If yes, is this agency an Orange County Living Wage Certified Employer? YES <br /> <br />If no, please briefly explain. <br /> <br /> Schedule of Positions: # of FTE – Full-Time Paid Positions: 4 # of FTE – Part-Time Paid Positions: 1 <br />NEW THIS YEAR <br />Consistent with our commitment to equity and inclusion, the Towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro and <br />Orange County Government are taking steps together to center racial equity in the Human Services <br />Funding Program. Over the course of the next year, the Towns and County will conduct a <br />comprehensive racial-equity analysis of the program and we are requesting basic information about <br />your organization’s racial equity work. <br /> <br />a.
