ORANGE COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN 5 <br /> LAND USE ELEMENT PROCESS AND SCHEDULE <br /> Step 3A SMALL AREA PLAN COMMITTEES (SAPC) <br /> Date: thru <br /> Where: Meetings shall be within each of the Small Areas <br /> Composition: Each SAPC will consist of 8 to 12 people, as determined by the BOCC, <br /> including at least 1 County Commissioner. The other committee members possibly will <br /> include community representatives, representatives from various Boards/Commissions, <br /> and representatives from other local governments, as appropriate. SAPC will be created <br /> for each of the 8 sub-areas: Cane Creek/Bingham, Chapel Hill/Carrboro, Efland, <br /> Hillsborough area, Little River, Lower Eno, Mebane, and Upper Eno/Cedar Grove. <br /> Purpose: <br /> • To hear from various county staff(Planning, ERCD, EDC) about the various <br /> challenges that growth is imposing on the area <br /> • To hear additional perspective about the pros and cons of various growth <br /> management tools <br /> Meeting Content: <br /> • First Meeting: Review of challenges presented by growth <br /> • Second Meeting: Pros and cons of various growth management tools that would be <br /> applicable in their area to address issues <br /> Outcome: No decisions. Staff will receive additional feedback about the wide range of <br /> growth management tools available and their applicability within specific areas of the <br /> County. <br /> Step 313 UPDATE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> Date: <br /> Where: Hillsborough or Southern Human Services Center <br /> Purpose: <br /> • To update BOCC on status of the Comprehensive Planning process <br /> • To authorize the Public Outreach Community Meetings <br /> Meeting Content: <br /> Review results of SAPC meetings - <br /> Outcome: BOCC is updated on Comprehensive Planning Process, and is to authorize <br /> Staff to proceed with the Public Outreach Community Meetings phase of the <br /> Comprehensive Planning process. <br />
