21 <br /> 1 BACKGROUND: The charge of the Animal Services Advisory Board is to advise the Board of <br /> 2 County Commissioners on matters of concern regarding animal issues and animals services in <br /> 3 Orange County and to work with the Animal Services Director on various policy concerns and <br /> 4 issues regarding County animal services. <br /> 5 <br /> 6 The Board of County Commissioners appoints all thirteen (13) members with representation <br /> 7 from various related fields and municipalities. <br /> 8 <br /> 9 The following individual is recommended for Board consideration: <br /> NAME POSITION TYPE OF EXPIRATION <br /> DESCRIPTION APPOINTMENT DATE <br /> TERM <br /> Judy Miller Animal Partial Term 06/30/2023 <br /> Welfare/Advocacy <br /> 10 <br /> 11 If the individual listed above is appointed, the fo[lowing vacancies remain: <br /> POSITION EXPIRATION VACANCY INFORMATION <br /> DESIGNATION DATE <br /> Town of Carrboro 06/30/2024 Vacant since 06/30/2021 <br /> Town of Chapel 06/30/2024 Vacant since 06/30/2021 <br /> Hill <br /> At-Large 06/30/2025 Vacant since 06/30/2022 <br /> Owner/Manager 06/30/2023 Vacant since 01/05/2022 <br /> Retail Pet Services <br /> 12 <br /> 13 Deputy Clerk to the Board Tara May introduced the item. <br /> 14 Commissioner Fowler said she was fine with Judy Miller as the recommended applicant. <br /> 15 She also suggested that Kimberly Rider fill Owner/Manager Retail Pet Services position. <br /> 16 Commissioner Bedford agreed with the suggestion. <br /> 17 Tara May said that Kimberly Rider would meet the qualifications. <br /> 18 Commissioner Bedford asked if Denise Doolan was eligible for the Chapel Hill position. <br /> 19 Tara May said yes. <br /> 20 Commissioner Bedford suggested Denise Doolan for the position. <br /> 21 Commissioner Richards supported Denise Doolan for the Chapel Hill position. <br /> 22 Tara May said that left the At-Large and the Town of Carrboro positions vacant. <br /> 23 Commissioner Bedford said she did not see anyone from Carrboro on the applicant list. <br /> 24 Tara May said that was correct, that there were no eligible applicants for the Carrboro <br /> 25 position. <br /> 26 Tara May said that Jennifer Stout was still interested in the At-Large position. <br /> 27 Commissioner Bedford said that Jennifer Stout was already on the Animal Services <br /> 28 Hearing Advisory Pool, and she supported Jennifer Stout for the At-Large position as well. <br /> 29 The Board agreed by consensus on the recommended applicant, Judy Miller, for the <br /> 30 Animal Welfare/Advocacy position, Kimberly Rider for the Owner/Manager Retail Pet Services <br /> 31 position, Denise Doolan for the Chapel Hill position, and Jennifer Stout for the At-Large <br /> 32 Position. <br /> 33 <br /> 34 <br />
