Attachment 1 <br /> 1 <br /> 1 DRAFT MINUTES <br /> 2 ORANGE COUNTY <br /> 3 BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> 4 BUSINESS MEETING <br /> 5 September 6, 2022 <br /> 6 7:00 p.m. <br /> 7 <br /> 8 The Orange County Board of Commissioners met for a Business Meeting on Tuesday, <br /> 9 September 6, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at the Whitted Human Services Center in Hillsborough, NC. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair Renee Price, Vice Chair Jamezetta Bedford, <br /> 12 and Commissioners Amy Fowler, Sally Greene, Jean Hamilton, Earl McKee (arrived at 7:05 <br /> 13 p.m.), and Anna Richards <br /> 14 COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br /> 15 COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: John Roberts <br /> 16 COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Bonnie Hammersley, Deputy County Manager <br /> 17 Travis Myren, and Clerk to the Board Laura Jensen. (All other staff members will be identified <br /> 18 appropriately below) <br /> 19 <br /> 20 Chair Price called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. All commissioners were present <br /> 21 except Commissioner McKee. <br /> 22 Chair Price welcomed everyone back from the summer meeting break. <br /> 23 Chair Price invited Bonnie Hammersley and John Roberts to introduce new county <br /> 24 employees. <br /> 25 Bonnie Hammersley asked Cy Stober, Planning and Inspection Director, Shameka <br /> 26 Fairbanks, Human Rights and Relations Director, Erin Sapienza, Orange County Library <br /> 27 Director, and Nish Trivedi, Transportation Services Director to stand and introduced them to the <br /> 28 Board. She noted that the Human Rights and Relations Department will soon be renamed the <br /> 29 Office of Equity and Inclusion. <br /> 30 Chair Price congratulated Erin Sapienza and Nish Trivedi for their new positions within <br /> 31 the organization. She welcomed Cy Stober and Shameka Fairbanks to Orange County. The <br /> 32 Board echoed her comments. <br /> 33 John Roberts invited staff attorneys Martha Bordogna, Morgan Pierce, and Joseph <br /> 34 Herrin to stand and introduced them to the Board. <br /> 35 The Board welcomed the staff attorneys. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 <br /> 38 1. Public Comments (Limited to One Hour) <br /> 46 a. Matters not on the Printed Agenda <br /> 47 Dan Howarth said he moved to Hillsborough in 2013. He said he volunteers in the <br /> 48 community and has chosen Orange County as home. He said he is very happy with Orange <br /> 49 County. He said he is happy to return home after he has been away. He said that when he <br /> 50 comes back from the west, he feels very upset and sad because on Highway 70, there is an <br />
