Article 10: Definit <br /> Section 10.1: Definitions <br /> Family Income <br /> The gross annual sum of all income received by all adult members of the household, including: <br /> a) Earned income from wages for all family members over the age of 18; <br /> b) Income from assets; <br /> c) Child support, alimony, Welfare payments, Social Security payments, including SSI, Worker's <br /> Compensation and Unemployment benefits; <br /> d) Regular contributions and gifts; <br /> e) Income from a business; <br /> f) Earned income tax credits; <br /> g) Lump sum payments such as inheritance, insurance settlements, and proceeds from sale of <br /> property; and <br /> h) Income from absent military personnel who are considered family members of the household. <br /> Farming <br /> The use of land consistent with the State of North Carolina's definition of farming, as contained in the <br /> General Statutes. <br /> Farm, Bona Fide <br /> The use of land meeting the criteria for"Farm" as defined by the State of North Carolina in the General <br /> Statutes. <br /> Farm Equipment, Non-Farm Use of <br /> Commercial use of the farm equipment for non-farming activities away from a bona fide farm. Examples <br /> include grading services and landscaping services. <br /> Farm Equipment Rental, Sales and Service <br /> An establishment engaged in the rental, sales, service, and/or repair of construction or farm equipment, <br /> including excavators, loaders, graders, bulldozers, farm tractors 50 horsepower or more in size and other <br /> large, heavy-duty types of equipment used in the construction or farming industries but not including <br /> horse trailers, trucks, or other vehicles designed for use on public roads. <br /> Farm Supply Store <br /> An establishment engaged primarily in the sale or rental of farm tools, small farming equipment, and farm <br /> supplies. Retail sales of animal feed, grain, hardware, lumber, tack, riding attire, animal care products, <br /> and the like may be an ancillary activity. <br /> Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) <br /> The agency of the federal government chiefly responsible for studying and mapping flood plains and <br /> developing guidelines limiting development therein. <br /> Feed Mill <br /> A building with machinery and apparatus for grinding and/or bagging grain. <br /> Fertilizer <br /> Any substance containing nitrogen or phosphorous which is used primarily for its plant food content. <br /> Financial Services <br /> Land uses providing economic and financial services to a clientele, <br /> Financially Responsible RersonParty <br /> In regards to sof erosion and sedimentation control provisions, and party or entity who has financial or <br /> operation control over a land disturbiRg aGtivityLanc1-Qisturbin_q Activity and/or the landowner or <br /> Orange County, North Carolina—Unified Development Ordinance Page 10-14 <br />
